Cancun with more of the coast in the Riviera Maya itinerary.

Day 3: Isla Mujeres day trip
Full day trip to Isla Mujeres, combining a combined snorkeling tour at MUSA Underwater Museum and Manchones Reef, scenic cliffside views, and one of the region's most famous white-sand beaches, before returning to Cancun.
- 08:00 — Transfer to Puerto Juárez Ferry Terminal
- 08:45 — Ferry Cancun → Isla Mujeres (~20 min)
- 09:15 — Arrive at Isla Mujeres, golf cart rental
- 10:00 — Snorkeling tour: MUSA Underwater Museum & Manchones Reef (~4 hours)
- 14:30 — Lunch at Mango Cafe Isla Mujeres
- 15:30 — Visit Punta Sur scenic viewpoint
- 17:00 — Relax at Playa Norte
- 17:45 — Return golf cart and head to ferry terminal
- 18:15 — Ferry Isla Mujeres → Cancun (~20 min)
- 19:30 — Dinner at Lorenzillo's (or your resort)
Transport: Taxi and Ultramar ferry transfers between Cancun (Puerto Juárez) and Isla Mujeres, ~$15-17 USD one-way per adult, departures roughly every 30 minutes; golf cart rental on the island (~$60-85 USD/day, driver's license held as deposit).
Note: this day runs later than a typical Isla Mujeres day trip because the combined MUSA + Manchones Reef tour takes about 4 hours, pushing lunch and every activity after it back roughly two hours.
Day 4: Valladolid and cenotes
A day trip inland to the colonial town of Valladolid, combining a historic 16th-century convent, the
colorful main square, and two of the region's best-known cenotes.
Getting there: The most efficient option is a guided day tour with hotel pickup —
typically $45-75 USD per person, covering round-trip transport in an A/C van, a guide, and often
cenote entry fees. This avoids picking up and returning a rental car for a single day of driving on
unfamiliar toll roads. Budget travelers can instead take the ADO bus from Cancun's bus terminal to
Valladolid (about 2.5-3 hours) and use local taxis or colectivos to reach the cenotes, which sit a
few kilometers outside town. Self-driving remains possible — Highway 180D (the "cuota" toll road) is
faster and safer than the free "libre" road, but requires a valid license, a credit card for the
deposit, and comfort navigating in Mexico for a full day.
- 07:30 — Guided tour or ADO bus departs Cancun (Hotel Zone pickup or bus terminal)
- 09:30 — Visit Convento de San Bernardino de Siena
- 11:00 — Walk around Valladolid's main square (Plaza Principal)
- 12:30 — Lunch at El Atrio del Mayab
- 14:00 — Swim in Cenote Zací
- 15:45 — Visit Cenote Suytun
- 17:00 — Return transfer to Cancun
- 19:30 — Dinner at Tora Cancun
Transport: Guided day tour or ADO bus round-trip between Cancun and Valladolid (~2.5-3 hours each way), with local taxis or colectivos between the cenotes.
Day 5: Cancun beaches and Isla Blanca
A slower day before the end of your trip, giving you the choice between enjoying your accommodation or spending extra time by the Caribbean Sea.
- 08:30 — Breakfast at Café Antoinette
- 10:00 — Option 1: Relax at your hotel or accommodation
- 10:00 — Option 2: Morning at Playa Tortugas or Playa Delfines
- 13:00 — Lunch at Porfirio's Cancun
- 14:30 — Free time for shopping, a café stop, or additional beach time
- 16:30 — Transfer to Isla Blanca
- 17:00 — Sunset at Isla Blanca beach
- 19:00 — Dinner at Fred's House Seafood Market & Grill
Transport: Local taxis within Cancun and a short drive north to Isla Blanca (~30 minutes).
Day 6: Tulum day trip
A day trip south to Tulum, combining cliffside Mayan ruins overlooking the Caribbean, a beautiful
beach right by the archaeological site, and a swim in one of the most popular cenotes in the region.
Getting there: Tulum is well connected by frequent, direct ADO buses from Cancun
(about 2 hours, roughly $10-15 USD). From the Tulum bus terminal, taxis or colectivos reach the
ruins and Gran Cenote in 5-10 minutes. A guided day tour bundling the ruins, a cenote, and lunch is
also common and removes the need to coordinate local transport yourself. As with Valladolid, renting
a car for this single day adds pickup/return logistics that most travelers find unnecessary here.
- 07:30 — Guided tour or ADO bus departs Cancun
- 09:30 — Visit Tulum Archaeological Site
- 11:30 — Walk to Playa Paraíso
- 13:00 — Lunch at El Asadero Tulum
- 14:30 — Swim in Gran Cenote
- 16:30 — Return transfer to Cancun
- 19:00 — Dinner at Casa Blanca
Transport: Guided day tour or ADO bus round-trip between Cancun and Tulum (~2 hours each way), with local taxis or colectivos to the ruins and Gran Cenote.
Day 7: Playa Chac Mool and departure
A simple final morning on a quiet Hotel Zone beach before heading to the airport.
- 09:30 — Morning walk along Playa Chac Mool
- 11:00 — Return to hotel, checkout and pack
- 16:00 — Transfer to Cancun International Airport
Transport: Taxi transfer to the airport, local walking around the Hotel Zone.
